Skepchick Quickies 4.8
Despite my cursory internet searching, I couldn’t find an interesting piece of history to share today, so instead I’m just going to say Happy Monday and post a picture of this cute little otter.
- Ray Comfort thinks that “bibliophile” is an insult – We should make this a game: what words will Ray Comfort find insulting because he’s an idiot?
- AACon13: An object lesson in building communities – From Amy.
- Little Miss Geek – “Inspiring Girls to Become Tech Pioneers.” From Sylvia D.
- Awkward Science Stock Photography – But I thought all scientists stared at colored liquids while naked?
- Naive to think gender equality possible in Parliament: women’s minister – Same old song and dance from people who think women are the “nurturers.” From Paul.
- Game Industry Gender Wage Gap Is Horrendous – From Jason S.
- When Medical Literature Included Unicorns – Aw, why isn’t unicorn medicine real! From CriticalDragon1177.
- Seeing and believing – “Ghost and UFO sightings are down. Psychics are in decline. Are we more discerning now, or just afraid to trust anything?” What do you think?
BONUS: This collection of pictures of other people that might make you feel better about yourself. Hehe, aw poor #8.
Well, my days of not taking Ray Comfort seriously have certainly come to a middle.
Also, the picture of the chicken lecturing to the assembled scientists is unexpectedly great.
Jack Leonard
LOL. That’s one smart Chicken!
I’m sure I’ve seen the chicken before. Don’t remember the context, but I think the chicken was psychic.
Buzz Parsec,
I think I’ll ask the Chicken what next years winning Loto Numbers are!
As a bibliophile, I just have to say I am unComfortable.
I wonder what he thought an anglophile was before this was explained to him! :-O
Someone who lusts after Jude Law, obviously.
More likely someone who is into kinky geometry!
Same as a bibliophile. There’s a lot of fishing* imagery in the New Testament.
[*] Link to one of my all-time favorite tunes.
Today, 73 years ago, the nazis invaded and occupied Denmark eventually prompting my maternal grandparents to flee with my great-grandmother to neutral Sweden.
There are usually a lot of WWII and other battle dates that I don’t post about because I don’t like to start the day off with Nazis. But it does call for a celebration that your family was able to successfully escape! :)
It’s been on my mind because I’ll be going to Stockholm with my mum next month – they went back to Denmark just after the war ended a few weeks after she was born and she’s never been there since, so she’s never actually seen it.
I obviously don’t really begrudge people not remembering the date of every single terrible thing the nazis did during WWII (that would just be every single day in the calendar, after all).
