Your new feel good summer jam

Yeah it’s pretty clear, I ain’t no size two
But I can shake it, shake it like I’m supposed to do

….

Come on now, make it stop
If you got beauty beauty just raise ’em up
‘Cause every inch of you is perfect
From the bottom to the top

Those are just some of the lyrics from Meghan Trainor‘s ‘All About That Bass’.  Trainor’s song isn’t the first bigger body/booty-positive tune. Who can forget Sir Mix-A-Lot‘s ‘Baby Got Back‘? Or EU’s ‘Da Butt‘? Those songs had somebody singing the praises of another’s body (or body part). Trainor’s song is praising her own body – and your’s!

I’ve added Trainor’s turne to my ‘Feel Good’ Spotify playlist which includes songs like India Arie‘s ‘Just Do You‘ & ‘I Am Not My Hair‘ and Estelle & Janelle Monáe’s ‘Do My Thing‘. What feel good songs are you rocking-out to?  Share in the comments!

  1. It would be good on a workout playlist.

It does reference “what boys like” and she is still a conventionally pretty woman, but props for body-positive sentiment, plus, it’s a fun song that you can dance (or lift, or Pilatée) to.
