Poster Art: The Melting Pot Makes US Great (Stop The Hate)

Pro-immigration poster art you can download and print at home

I made a new poster for you to download and print at home.

The current American administration would like you to think that immigrants coming in from Mexico and any other non-white country, are the cause of all the violence and addiction problems faced by the U.S.A. This is not true. And any thinking human knows that immigrants are what make this country great. In fact, this country was literally based on immigration from Europe so that people could live free of monarchies and free of forced religion. Does our country have a bad track record of doing terrible things to native Americans and people of color throughout its history? Abso-fucking-lutely. But the fact still remains, that the United States of America was based on the idea that being a melting pot of diversity is something that can make us a stronger society. And it has and it does. Our brand, as a nation, is one of equality and acceptance of people who want to join us in the pursuit of freedom. We may have a garbage leader right now with an administration that is trying its best to spread fear and steal power. But we shall overcome. The fact can not be erased that we are a country founded upon diversity and freedom. We are the melting pot. That’s what makes us great. Stop the hate.

Like the last downloadable art piece I posted about equality, this is standard poster art size, 22 inches wide  by 28 inches high. You can print it in sections on your home computer or just have it printed at the local print shop in one piece. Then you can tape it, or use spray fixative to attach it to a poster board or other hard surface and BAM! You now have a poster for any protest you may attend. Or, you can put it on your wall, or in a window, or post it somewhere else cool.

I release this art to the public for non commercial use under the Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial (CC-BY-NC) license.

  1. I thought the melting pot metaphor was supposed to be troublesome because it’s anti-diversity. In it we all melt in to some homogeneous slurry. Is there a new meaning I’m missing?

    1. Not so much troublesome as there are better metaphors. In a melting pot, everything loses its individual identity and gets blurred together like the output of a juice machine or food processor. The better analogy I heard was to minestrone, where lots of individual items keep their own identities but take on aspects of all the other bits, making a result that is better than any of them. Beside, I like soup :-)

  2. I saw a new term used in a Canadian news article. We use multiculturalism up here to reflect diversity and the term intercultural was used to reflect underlying common values. As far as words matter, I think that’s a good one.
