Quickies: Brain folds, being a woman politician, and alternatives to resting bitch face

- The simple physics of how the brain gets its folds – I now have a deep desire to grow gel brains.
- Lots of men don’t think rape is rape – From Courtney.
- In Iowa, Hillary shows she’s learned something about running while female – “Here is a truth about America: No one likes a woman who yells loudly about revolution.”
- Alternatives to resting bitch face – This list from McSweeney’s is perfection.
For me, it’s more that ‘gradual change’ reminds me of all the white moderates and Very Serious People in my life. The tl;dr is: Gradual change doesn’t happen. All that happens with gradual change is, what’s happened right now, where Obama is to the right of Reagan, and Republicans still think he’s too far to the left. (Reagan also couldn’t get elected today because of his relatively liberal stance on immigration.) So I guess that’s a change?
There’s this popular image of a rapist as some stranger in the alley. Of course, that’s probably not even 1% of rapes. I think it’s a way to explain the cognitive dissonance of a culture that clearly romanticizes things like captivity while acknowledging that rape is bad.
“You’re Clearly Struggling With My Failure to Conform to Your Stupid Expectations Face”
I can not count how often I make this face.
