Quickies: Salad in Space, Atheists’ Favorite Bible Verses, and Thomas Kinkade’s Downfall
- Bible Verses That Atheists Love – I like some Bible verses, but they’re usually the creepy ones.
- The Drunken Downfall of Evangelical America’s Favorite Painter – “Thomas Kinkade’s death shocked his legions of fans—not only had the Painter of Light died at 54, but the cause was alcohol and Valium. How did the evangelical darling fall so far?” (Bob Ross was much better anyway)
- Petition: Stand up against #TwitterTheocracy and Blasphemy Laws – “Twitter has agreed to use its ‘Country Withheld Tool’ to block “blasphemous” tweets in Pakistan. Blasphemy laws are used in Pakistan and elsewhere to suppress dissent and persecute minorities who face state and vigilante violence at the mere accusation of blasphemy. Twitter is being complicit in suppressing free speech, and in aiding Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.” From Amy.
- The Salad Frontier: Why Astronauts Need To Grow Lettuce In Space – Growing lettuce not only provides valuable nutrition, but it also saves space (because you can just transport the seeds) and gardening has psychological benefits.
- Gargantuan Ghostbusters Infographic Fills Your Head With Old Ghosts – I will never get tired of watching this movie or pretending that Egon is my BFF.
Of course I can’t find the article now, but I remember reading one a year or so ago that went into excruciating detail about Kinkade and the galleries, the business model, the houses… WHAT A WEIRD BIRD. It just makes me want one of the “War on Kinkade” series by Jeff Bennett even more badly.
