Scientologists: Psychiatrists Caused 9/11
From Denialism via Screw Loose Change, here’s an unintentionally hilarious clip of Scientologists (under the cover of front group Citizens Commission on Human Rights) attempting to convince you that psychiatrists were pulling the strings behind the terrorist attacks of September 11.
Scientologists Try to Explain how Psychiatrists caused 9/11 and the Holocaust from Chris Doyle on Vimeo.
My psychiatrist tells me that chopping people up with an axe is a perfectly normal way to express my daily frustrations, and that I should feel free to express myself artistically (blood spatter counts). He did ask me to refrain from too much self expression while in his office, as it could interfere with the doctor-patient relationship.
Interesting that they said no one wakes up in the morning and decides to fly a plane into the WTC without some “outside help”. Do they threaten people who question their beliefs, with out outside help. Do goon squads wake up in the morning and collectively say, I think I’ll go meet up with my friends, and strong arm a news photographer.
You get my drift!
My wife is a therapist so I promise to keep a closer eye on her. She may be planning something.
It’s interesting. I think my therapy has really started to improve since my psychiatrist started giving me suicidebomberidone.
Hooray Association Fallacy! Don’t you see? Some psychiatrists are close to Bin Laden (and other crazy people…can’t imagine why), and therefore are just like him!
Kind of like how we can trust criminals because they’re always in the company of the police.
Where do we get these drugs again?
@braak: That may be a COTW contender right there . . .
@JT Eberhard: “Some psychiatrists are close to Bin Laden . . .” To clarify, al-Zawahiri isn’t even a psychiatrist – he’s a surgeon.
@Rebecca: Good! I’ve never trusted surgeons either. :P
So very, very dumb… However, I did enjoy the appearance of that Kenny Rogers lookalike at the end of the video.
OF COURSE! Why couldn’t I have connected the dots sooner:
9/11… 7-11, gasoline, taurine, taurus, astrology, astroboy, manga, comics, Superman, kryptonite, krypton, chemistry, laboratory, classroom, exams, multiple choice, multiple personality… PSYCHIATRY!
Now to do the numerological analysis to corroborate these findings…
This is such rubbish. As any fule kno, all Islamic terrorism is done by Darwinists.
@Rebecca: al-Zawahiri’s a sturgeon? Are you sure? Sounds fishy to me.
Thought I was looking at another McSweeney’s post.
*beats head against desk*
Ok I feel a little better now.
My brain is very angry with me for watching that video. It is now hurting my head. OWWW.
So being a radical Muslim is just a wash, then…
Their “Psychiatry: Industry of Death” travelling museum was in town last week. Imagine a combination of that video mixed in with displays that are barely a step up from the sleaziest travelling circus sideshow. I was expecting to have some guy in a plaid suit lure me through a curtain to come see Serpentina, the Snake Lady.
Definitely a rip-off at the cost of free.
Sorry, no photos. My decision to see it was impromptu, and I’m way too old to care about having a camera on my phone.
@ThickMcRunfast: Me thinks you’re an insider…
As someone who’s hoping to soon be accredited as a professional psychology here in the UK, i’d just like to say how f***ing disgusted i am, i hate these people, i hate these people so much.
i have just realised i wrote psychology instead of psychologist, i hope you approve of my good engwish. ;)
Someone needs to slapchop these morons. Where the hell is Vince?
@DK: As someone who has a degree in psych and now works in health care, I feel your pain. Fuckers.
Although I am disgusted by the mental contortions necessary to reach the conclusion that psychiatry is responsible for 9/11, I can understand how people feel like they need a way to understand how a bunch of guys could decide that it would be a good idea to drive airplanes into buildings. Scientologists apparently find that understanding by blaming psychiatrists, just like FOX News blames Islam in general. What is really unfortunate here is that these wackjobs have the media presence to put their flawed explanation of a tragedy in front of so many people, some of whom will probably be convinced.
@DK: Tell me how you really feel…
If I had to hang around listening to Scientologists spouting crap like this, I’d probably run an airplane into my psychologist, too.
Holy Fucking Shit !! and they did it with a straight face!
That video is a ploy to distract us from the fact that Xenu did it.
Those psychiatrist bastards!
Cool, but it doesn’t count as front if they admit to being a scientology group on their web page.
@drockwood: I disagree. I’ve gone over a lot of material from the CCHR (DVDs, magzines, pamphlets, etc) and they hide the connection quite well.
Yikes… It was Xenu all along?
It’s always the guy you least expect…
Just when you think you have heard the finest quality of BS from the CoS they raise the bar just that extra notch.
Psychiatry and cunnilingus got us into this mess.
Apparently the material you went over didn’t include the “About Us” page I linked to which contains this sentence:
“CCHR was founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and the internationally acclaimed author, Dr. Thomas Szasz”
Also, a similar footer accompanies every one of their press releases.
In this particular case I’m afraid I’m not very impressed with your detective work. However I promise not to let that color my impression of your skills over all.
@csrster: Back off! Cunny rules.
@drockwood: Not sure if your previous comment is a joke, or not – it’s perfectly obvious that I know it’s a Scientology group. Maybe you just didn’t read my previous comment . . . the reason why they’re a front group is because they pass out literature, DVDs, etc. on the street in which their connection to Scientology goes unnoticed. Your comment about my “detective work” doesn’t seem to be at all related to this topic. Did you mean to post it in another thread, perhaps?
Rebecca, I guess the comment about your detective work was a little abstract. Let me clarify.
I just don’t think it’s reasonable to call them a “front” because it implies some kind of deception on their part.
They say up front on their website that they were founded by scientologists. According to wikipedia they qualify for tax exemption status because they file their taxes as a division of the church of scientology.
And you say their pamphlets hide the connection but…
That’s a pdf of one of their pamphlets. It’s pretty upfront about their relationship.
Maybe in general their connection to scientology goes unnoticed but to call that a “front” is a pretty liberal use of the term. Do you tell everyone you meet which groups you are affiliated with?
If cunnilingus got us into this mess, then cunnilingus can damn well get us out of it.
