Updates All Around
I’ve just upgraded the site software as well as all our plug-ins. Things should be running pretty smoothly, with the exception of the Gravatars, which are acting like little bastards at the moment. Until I get a chance to fix it, enjoy big ol’ gravatars with every comment. Post any other glitches below, please!
Also, there are a few Skepchick-y things going down tonight. Elyse is hosting yet another Chicago bash (details here), and I’ll be attending the Greg Graffin talk/performance/award ceremony tonight at Harvard. That starts at 8pm, and if I’m going anywhere for drinks prior, I’ll post it to my Twitter (here, or over to the left of this page in the sidebar) as I’ll be out and about all day today.
I can never help thinking that people who use Twitter ought to be called “Twits” for short. Not because I have anything against Twitter or people who use it so much as because I just can’t resist the pun. ;)
It also has the benefit of saving a few characters. “twits” as opposed to “twitters”, that’s 3 whole letters! When you’ve only got 140, that’s a bonus.
Rebecca just asked me to mention that she has an extra ticket for the Greg Gaffin thing at Harvard tonight. Her friend she invited dropped out, so if there are any Bostonians who’d like to know, y’all should post here or e-mail her or something.
Also, she asked me to post a link to this.
Sorry I can’t go tonight. Fucking dissertation.
I’ve never been able to get my Gravatar to work.
Figures…
I”m gonna go out on a limb here and say that I like the larger Gravatars. They’re about the same size as icons on other sites I use. Also, I can finally tell what all of them are!
I like the temporary hugeness too … I was so pleased with my current one when I first made it but then you couldn’t tell that it was a) a nod to / poke at Bridget Jones’ Diary or b) The God Delusion, because it was so teeny tiny. So I wouldn’t complain if they got stuck this size. ;)
I think I got my grammar a little confused there. You couldn’t tell that the avatar was in reference to Bridget Jones, and you couldn’t tell that the book was The God Delusion. There, that should clear it right up. :P
Improbable Bee, if you like temporary hugeness you ought to see me when I look at the Skepchick calendar. (just trying to inject some humor, the fighting on the “Who am I” topic is giving me a headache).
