- Science confirms “Dr Who type world, Gallifrey” – Or in science terms, a “transiting circumbinary multi-planet system.”
- Explosives-proof makeup developed for armed forces – How cool is that?
- Why the Essex “lion” was a roaring success – Why a bunch of people thought they saw/heard a lion when really, all anyone saw was a big orange house cat. From Stephen.
- What having a period is like – SMBC hits the nail on the head with this one.
Amanda,
Wow! They keep finding new planets, don’t they? and to think that only twenty or so years ago we didn’t know of any planets circling any stars, save our own.
Re: the Essex lion, the same thing happened in London a few years ago. Several people saw a lion on the wall at the end of the block, resulting in a massive police search, people told to stay in their homes, etc. One lady was locked in her house with the “lion” in her lap, not realizing he was who they were looking for.
And of course there was the case of the red panda that escaped from the zoo in The Netherlands. After being sighted all over the country, it was found less than 100 yards from it’s enclosure, where it had been hit by a train.
They really get it with the SMBC comic with the look of the daughter’s expression.
Makes me wonder if any parents might one day use the explaination to their daughters….
And good to see a “Doctor Who” reference regarding a new exoplanet find.
I probably stand alone on this, but I was getting tired of so many “Star Wars” references in other exoplanet stories.
In the meantime, I must reverse the polarity of the neutron flow….
Always in for a good SMBC comic. xD It reminded me of this, which I think might say illustrate it even more clearly: http://static.themetapicture.com/media/funny-girl-uterus-period-comic.jpg
