- Stephen Hawking in hospital – From QuestionAuthority & Rav Winston.
- Trailer for “The Skeptic” – InfiniteMonkey proclaims, “We got done wrong!”
- What makes us human? – “Comparisons of the genomes of humans and chimpanzees are revealing those rare stretches of DNA that are ours alone.” From Steve.
- UK wine sellers declare that wine has horoscopes – “Credulous wine-sellers in the UK are encouraging their customers to avoid drinking wine on certain days of the month on the grounds that the lunar cycle will alter the taste of the wine.” I shit you not.
Are there no other details about Hawking’s condition yet? “Very ill” is insanely vague. I imagine anything wrong is a lot more serious for a frail man in his late 60s with Lou Gehrig’s disease.
That movie practically cries out for the talents of Nicholas Cage! It’s exactly the sort of role he was born to play.
Wine drunk on the night of a full moon will result in vinecanthropy and ye shall roam the lands destroying that which you love the most as a weregrapestomper.
According to msn Hawking is expected to make a full recovery. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30323352/?GT1=43001
@Eliza: I know you got COTW recently, but holy crap, weregrapestomper and vinecanthropy are the best words EVER.
@9bar: Thanks for the update!
@Eliza: A weregrapestomper can only be stopped with a silver corkscrew.
“Steiner, claimed to have conceived the concept after consulting telepathically with spirits beyond the realm of the material world.”
Funny, I usually come up with ideas like that while consulting physically with spirits very much of the material world.
@Amanda: My pleasure. I’m just glad I was able to give some good news.
So Irish Rose and Boones Farm taste better on a full moon? hmmm who knew?
That wine article doesn’t really surprise me. Wine tasting is pretty woo-ish to begin with. There was an incident a while back where a panel of experts were unable to tell the difference between red wine and white wine dyed red.
hahahahaha
Fortunately ‘The Skeptic’ has Tom Arnold in it.
Hence, next to no one will want to see it.
Win.
Definitely snatched up the Scientific American that had that article about our genomes on the front article as soon as I saw it in my dad’s magazine stack, today… thinking it’s kind of funny to see a link to the online article here.
