Until tonight, a woman of color had never won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama. It’s hard to believe in 2015 (unless you consider that the rest of the awards shows also have a glaring race problem), but Viola Davis broke that shameful streak and won an Emmy for her stellar work on How To Get Away With Murder.
