A Call for Submissions: Sexism

Several people on this post commented that they would like to read about examples of sexism in the atheist/secular/skeptic community. Although examples can be found everywhere and the posting of stories can sometimes simply lead to a dismissal of the examples themselves, I’ve decided to do a write-up anyway. I do have plenty of my own examples, but I would like others’ for the forthcoming post. Feel free to comment here or to email me at [email protected]. Be sure to let me know how you want me to cite you (i.e. with your first name only, with your first and last name, with your screen name, anonymously, or with a pseudonym).

Please limit comments on this post to examples/anecdotes. All discussion of the topic belongs on the original or forthcoming post.

Additionally, commenter Karenx remarked that something along the lines of #mencallmethings could be useful in dealing with sexism and proposed the hashtag #SexismInSkepticism. I will be checking Twitter, as well.

  2. I’m hoping to get something written this weekend. I imagine everyone is busy what with the Holidays and all, so posting a new request next week might be helpful. :)

  3. These things aren’t sexist. Also, they’re no big deal. (Or am I supposed to wait to see what the stories are first?)
