Religion

I hope God doesn’t watch YouTube.

Because if He does, there are a lot of people going to HAY-ELL. Courtesy of PZ over on Pharyngula, I see that the Rational Response Squad is offering a free DVD of the God Who Wasn’t There to anyone who uploads a video to YouTube showing himself rejecting the Holy Spirit (aka, the Christian version of the godthingie). I think it’s a nice idea that might encourage more people to embrace the okay-ness of not buying into religion.

Speaking of Mr. Myers, today is the very last day to get your vote in to make sure that our sexy calendar model Phil Plait wins the WebLog award for best science blog! If you’ll recall, PZ previously spoke his own blasphemy against the idea of bloggers gettin’ nekkid, which is why we MUST teach him a lesson. If Phil wins, we may even get that squid-lover to pose for the 2008 calendars. So vote! VOTE dammit!

Oh yeah, and while you’re there you should also check out the Medical category, which features Orac’s Respectful Insolence, another fave blog of mine. Vote for him, too! (This is less important since he’s already kicking butt, though you should at least check out his blog.)

Aw, hell, and since it’s Friday, enjoy this video about Bigfoot and a unicorn.

  1. Hmm. Phil still has a bit of a lead in the voting. This is looking good. I probably never had to worry about saying that I'd pose if PZ won, but all the same. It probably wasn't worth the risk to have made the statement, regardless of whether it'd be taken seriously!!

I wish I had a video/webcam so I could deny that rapscallion holy spirit m'self. I like free things, after all, and if the ULTIMATE price might just be my 'immortal soul,' well, it's not like I'm using it for much at the moment! I won't even miss it.

And that video is certainly a bit demented…is this what I'm missing not having American TV while here in London? Yikes. :)

  2. There's a good paradox in here. You know, "Could Jesus make a YouTube video so viral that He could not stop watching it?" It's not as good as the burrito question, but give me time. . . .

  3. Wow… that link didn't work at all… oh, probably forgot the closing quote… Rebecca, can you edit comments? (Rather that than my trying to repost the link…) There are times when editting comments would be a useful facility to have…

  4. hm, the link isn't there thad. Try reposting, and if that doesn't work you can email it to me and I'll post. Can't wait to see!
