Bill Gates on Vaccines
“Well, Dr. Wakefield has been shown to have used absolutely fraudulent data. He had a financial interest in some lawsuits, he created a fake paper…”
Ummm, pardon me but I have to go purchase something Microsoft. (Sshhhh. Don’t tell my Mac.)
As an enormous gamer nerd, I’d recommend an XBox.
Say what you will about Bill; he’s not stupid and he puts gobs of his money where his mouth is. And he’s even doing a pretty good job getting a lot of other billionaires to pony up for good causes.
I’m glad that I can read something about my current employer that doesn’t make me cringe like some of my previous employers (ahem, Maurice Greenberg).
You can buy MS office for Mac, or just use Bing.
Thank you Bill and Melinda… and Warren.
It’s so nice to see someone that has made it using their money for something other than finding ways to keep their money. More than I can say for most million/billionaires.
Bravo Bill.
Bravo Melinda.
@Cethis: or just use bing
I don’t like Bill Gates that much.
@DiscordianStooge: COTW
@mrmisconception:
As a self-proclaimed billionaire, I take offense to that. Most of us billionaires have enough billions to spend money trying to hold onto our billions AND doing good in the world. We’re human beings, for god’s sake… unlike you plebes.
Bravo, Bill and Melinda.
I have billions and billions of Zimbabwean dollars. Unfortunately, my Zimbabwean “agro-cheques” have now expired.
So are the anti-vaccers going to claim that Bill was bribed by big pharma?
@lisavilisa:
No, they’ll probably just say he’s Big Pharma in cashmere mufti.
@Elyse: I beg your forgiveness my liege.
Apparently there is an antivax reedit of that interview going around that ‘proves’ vaccines are being used to sterilize people. The proof is Bill’s remarks on controlling the population in poor areas.
Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to look for the reedit on youtube yet.
@John Greg: @lisavilisa: The new claim is that Bill Gates is funding the “vaccine conspiracy.” Apparently, it’s a conspiracy to save lives.
Conspiracy agenda:
1) Immunize all children against preventable diseases to save them from pain, suffering and death.
2) Provide clean water and infrastructure so people in poor countries don’t die of disease or starvation.
3) Provide people everywhere with a decent education so they don’t fall victim to superstition and exploitation and can provide themselves with a decent living.
4) Fund genetic engineering project to modify ponies into unicorns so every little girl can have one.
5) ????
6) Profit
@Amy …. So?
Sorry but only my inner 8 year old can respond such an absurd fear.
@Amy:
Those bounders; those cads!
You should buy a Zune. I think Bill would like that. It’s certainly where your purchase will be most noticeable as it would increase worldwide Zune ownership by 33%. (I believe the three people who presently own one are Bill Gates, Barack Obama and Tycho from Penny Arcade).
@DiscordianStooge: I use Bing, but not because I like Bill Gates, rather, I use Bing because Google has become evil and is on the wrong side of net neutrality.
Microsoft is an afterthought now, totally losing the future to Apple and Google. So, since they’re the underdog, I use as many of their free services as I can. Though I still won’t use Office or Windows. Or Zune. OK, so I only use Bing.
@Zapski:
Truth is, I can’t put Bing up in my Firefox search engine as far as I can tell.
