Skepchick Quickies 10.19
- Things I don’t have to think about today – Carrie summed this up perfectly, “John Scalzi writes about privilege, directly and powerfully.” The comments are worth reading as well.
- Should skeptics “accommodate or confront” religion: A false dichotomy – Inspired by the panel at the Council for Secular Humanism’s conference.
- Boobquake Jen in More magazine – Jen McCreight is featured in an article on “the new feminists.” Woohoo, go Jen!
- Help us give Christine O’Donnell the Santorum treatment – “How do you think we should redefine “Odonnell”? Is an odonnell a sex act? A substance? A body part? A device? A feeling?”
I love #2 on today’s cracked.com list: http://www.cracked.com/article_18757_5-things-you-wont-believe-arent-in-bible_p2.html
Greetings to all my fellow anti-christs!
I think the Odonnell scale of ignorance should be created and calibrated. For example, the statement “why aren’t monkeys evolving into humans” would register a 7.6 on the Odonnell scale.
Eeewwww, don’t attach the label “O’donnell” to anything that anyone might derive the slightest bit of pleasure or enjoyment from, or you will spoil it for them.
So gonna show my ignorance here: What’s Voter Fraud Theater?
An O’Donnell could be that one thought that turns a session of self pleasure off at the source. â€I was having a quiet evening and decided to masturbate; but damn, if an O’Donnell didn’t pop into my head and ruined the momentâ€
O’Donnelling: participating in a Hollywood inspired pseudo-cult ritual, and mistaking it for the real thing.
Example: Beckey brought a Ouija board to the slumber party, and the girls spent the whole night O’Donnelling
The problem is that O’Donnell is far too common a name. Santorum isn’t a name you could confuse with more than one person.
“How do you think we should redefine “Odonnell
Simply, “Clueless in Delaware.”
O’Donnell = dumbass

The false dichotomy article is well written indeed.
But regarding the Confrontationalists specifically, I have one thing so say about them: “fuckin’ no nuthin’ assholes they are.”
Irony folks. Irony.
And regarding O’Donnell, I have one thing so say about her: “fuckin’ no nuthin’ asshole she is.â€
No irony. None whatsoever.
@James Fox: I think you’re on the right track.
O’Donnell – (adj.) The feeling of horror and shame one feels when masturbating and inadvertently thinking of something which is the antithesis of sexual pleasure.
“I was having a quick wank when, suddenly, I had an O’Donnell image of Nancy Reagan getting a prune juice enema.”
I’m not a fan of applying derogetory meanings to peoples names. There are far too many decent O’Donnells out there that don’t deserve the association with their name.
Too much collateral damage.
How about CO’D? As in “That’s such a co’dding stupid idea – there’s no way we’d have fun at a Temperance Union party!”
Odonnell* – To live well in to your adult life with no visible means of support.
“John doesn’t have a plan for the future; he seems to have odonnelled it thus far.â€
*is considered a felony in ten states
@mrmisconception: Not to mention being sued five times by your alma matter, one IRS lean, and one mortgage foreclosure. Just the kind of responsibility I want to see in DC.
@Supertec I think the Odonnell scale of ignorance should be created and calibrated.:
Any such scale would have to be logarithmic.
@qyiet: Like.
“That bit of stupidity registered 7.3 on the O’Donnell scale, causing a bridge to collapse in San Francisco.”
