I Don’t Believe in God Anymore, I’m a Satanist
DAD: You can’t just describe things as rubbish, you have to treat everybody’s views, whatever they believe, with equal respect.
GIRL: Even idiots?
DAD: Well . . .
Girl: Even people who want to stab you in the eye with a pencil?
DAD: Wuh . . .
GIRL: Even people who want to blow up . . .
MOM: Come on now, you should be in bed.
From the show Outnumbered, which this week won a number of honors at the British Comedy Awards (including the little girl, Ramona Marquez, for best female newcomer).
Oh, I love that show… though I’ve only ever seen it in snippets on YouTube. Damn you, Netflix.
Netflix will only rent region 1 DVDs in the US.
What I did was get a region-free DVD player and then just buy the DVDs from amazon.co.uk. It’s cheaper than you think. You’ll get to see a bunch of stuff this way that we’re too moronic to import.
This is beautiful! Why have I never heard of this before??
Oh, right…because I’m a dumbass AMERICAN.
That was so worth a revisit!
Damn, more ethical acquisition problems.
If it’s any consolation (and it isn’t) there’s an American remake of Outnumbered on the way: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1206661/
Ramona Marquez totally earned that award. She’s hilarious.
mahlersoboes, what about this makes you a “dumbass AMERICAN”? What exactly is that supposed to mean? I’m a fan of British TV, but it’s hard to get hold of in America. If your local PBS station or BBC America doesn’t air it you have to go hunt for it. And I’ve done some searching for Outnumbered in the past and not found a lot on it.
They will probably import it into the US with a new cast and screw it up as they did with so many British shows.
@NewEnglandBob: The Office worked out pretty well.

I still have scarred synapses from watching the American version of _Coupling_.
I love British TV. Too bad copyright laws get in the wa- OH WAIT THEY DON’T.
:D
@davew: Like the JDrama Trick. Japanese dramas are entertaining as is, but a show that is actually about debunking psuedo-scientific nonsense is simply awesome
