Skepchick Presents: A Conversation with Dr. Eugenie Scott (Parts 5 & 6)
In this installment, Dr. Scott and I finish up the discussion about the ever-changing creationist tactics that we started in Parts 3 & 4, and we talk a little bit about religious cranks giving famous science books away with a “special introduction” attached. These two videos are the fifth and sixth segments in a series of nine. (You can see Parts 1 & 2 here, and Parts 3 & 4 here.)
Part 5
Part 6
Stay tuned for Parts 7 and 8 of my conversation with Dr. Scott to be posted tomorrow.

Hooray for Genie and Sam! This series is super-fantastic!
Agreed with Amy…keep these coming, Sam!
Call me a bad skeptic, but I don’t have the attention span to watch it. I do, however, would love for this to be compressed into 1 file-audio, and posted as part of the skepchick podcast. I can focus better on stuff like this.
I can go through about 4 POI podcasts like that. If it were vid, I don’t think I could handle it.
*NOTE: This is a reflection of my personal shortcomings, and is not to be construed as negative criticism of the interviewer or interviewee.
@infinitemonkey:
Well, of course that doesn’t make you a bad skeptic. Who would judge you on such a ridiculous thing anyway?
Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. I relied heavily on some good-hearted people to help produce these videos, and I am not going to take advantage of their kindness further.
Wish you could enjoy the videos.
@Sam Ogden: I’m looking forward to watching the whole series the next couple of nights while my wife is out of town speaking at a conference. If I had the energy I might consider getting into trouble but you and Eugenie will have to do. Perhaps as a pre-movie short before my son and I go see Zombieland tomorrow!
@James Fox:
Cool!
And I’ve heard good things about Zombieland. Our own A gave it a glowing review.
@Sam Ogden: So when will you be joining the FB zombie legions??
@James Fox:
My Internet doesn’t get FaceBook. I have one of those cheap service providers. I can only get FacePamphlet.
The truth is, I’m having a hard enough time keeping up with everything in my life as it is now. I’m actually trying to reduce as many extraneous things as I can, and I fear that would just be another one.
Very cool! but…are you wearing a black silk shirt, Sam?
Were you hoping for a little natural selection? :p
@bug_girl:
I wish it was silk!
No, actually, it’s just a black button up. And a black suit, though they talked me out of the jacket before we started taping, which I’m thankful for. It really gets warm under the lights.
@infinitemonkey: That’s normally how my brain works too, but you are really missing out if you don’t watch these videos. Sam asked great questions and Genie is just amazing.
@bug_girl: Isn’t that why we keep Sam around, for the pretty?
