Auctions for Science: Photo shoot at CONvergence
Cross-posted with Skepchick Events.
This week’s auction is especially for those of you who will be attending CONvergence, the sci-fi/fantasy conference where SkepchickCon is held. Skepchick Jamie Bernstein is auctioning off a photo shoot at the con, so you can get pro quality photos of your cosplay. You can even include a friend! Check out the amazing photos she took at last year’s con throughout this post and in the SkepchickCon 2013 album on Flickr.
Click here to see the auction and bid. Be sure to get your bids in before next Tuesday, June 10, at 9:30pm Eastern. If you want to be sure you win, grab up the Buy It Now price before it goes away with the first bid.
CON attendees and locals should also check out Rebecca Watson’s Quiz-o-Tron at Bryant Lake Bowl in Uptown Minneapolis Wednesday, July 2, at 7:00 pm. She’ll be joined by Joseph Scrimshaw, Bill Corbett, Molly Catherine Glover, Sharon Stiteler, and Jill Bernard for science quiz silliness. Food and drinks are served in the theater, which also happens to be a bowling alley. Get your advance tickets here.
If you can’t make it to the con but still want to help us raise money for science activity supplies and informational materials, please click the image below to make a Paypal donation (or Paypal directly to [email protected]). Even a single dollar helps us out. Thanks so much.
We’ve also just launched our new website, designed by the incomparable Beth Voigt from Mad Art Lab. Check out our huge lineup of speakers, and the 70 panels, workshops, and readings we’re involved in at the con, more than half of those Skepchick-sponsored.
This is in addition to the science and art activities and salons we’ll be hosting for the first time this year in the Skepchick Space Lab, plus a new mixology demo from MAL’s Anne Sauer. We’ll have more details on the Space Lab schedule up soon.
I’ve said it before, but I have to stress: We do all this science, skepticism, and social justice outreach and education on our own dime. We do not get a cut of ticket sales or charge anything extra for what we offer. We do not profit. At all. This is why we need your help.
Please help us out by bidding, spreading the word about the auctions and the SkepchickCon site, or donating directly.
Thanks so much for your support!
