Chicagoist and me – Taking down Jenny McCarthy
A little something new for your iPod today: The Chicagoist podcast! Their latest installment is an episode you cannot miss! It’s vaxilicious! And dELYSEious! (Get it? I’m on it! Talking about vaccines.)
Karl Klockars and I sat down last week and had a little chat about the anti-vaccination movement and Jenny McCarthy. The interview went about a half hour longer than he had anticipated… apparently he had no idea that, as you learned from my post from over the weekend, I have a lot to say on the subject.
Karl kindly let me rant on, but edited it so it’s less rambly and more smarty. He also broke it up into two separate segments, so don’t stop listening because you think I’m done talking (because, as everyone who knows me knows, I’m never done talking.)
Download it! Have a listen!
While you’re at it, check out the Chicagoist – it’s a great site even when they aren’t interviewing me! And if you’re not interested in learning about all the lastest what’s what in Chicago, you need to check out the -ist in your city. (And I know you all already read the Bostonist because you can never seem to get enough of Rebecca, who writes there, too.)
My phone won’t let me download the podcast unless there’s a wifi connection. Harrumph.
Is it safe to listen to at work?
I’m downloading it now.
I’ll be listening to it later today.
Elyse, are you in Chicago? I’m from Chicago.

@Gabrielbrawley:
yes, absolutely, 100%!
@derekcbart:
Yes, indeed I am… well maybe not IN chicago, I’m in the burbs
Just listened, great job! I like the added touch of Moose in the background there. :)
Finally got to listen. Good interview.
I’m just waiting for someone like this guy to catch the chicken pox.
Just finished. Nicely done. Then there was the Jenny song at the end which always puts a lump in my throat.
@Elyse:
Cool. North suburbs? I am from Wilmette and went to New Trier High School and then Columbia College Chicago. I then moved to Los Angeles after graduating in order to work in the entertainment industry.

@derekcbart:
Grew up in Arlington Heights, went to Hersey.
Then I got married and moved to Oswego to pursue my dream of being unemployed and living in a house with an upside down mortgage. Livin’ the dream, man… livin’ the dream.
@Elyse: As long as you have your dreams you have everything.
I was pleased when my Google Alert for Jenny McCarthy popped a news story with my fave Skepchick
@Malfeitor:
I was sad that yet another day went by without a Google Alert hit for “Elyse Anders is the coolest person ever to live in the universe EVER”
Why does the news never say that?
I just finished listening to the episode. Nicely done.
Thanks for mentioning the website. I am thoroughly gobsmacked by the response that it has gotten. As of today there have been over 260,000 page views and over 82,800 unique visitors and the site is only 8 weeks old.
Now I’ve got to get back to drafting my paper presentation proposal for TAM7. Take care.
