Skeptic Theme Park Attractions!
My talented, skeptical mom just sent me a batch of drawings of attractions at the skeptical/science theme park!
Here they are, with brief descriptions. Enjoy!
Whack-a-Woo!
No description needed. I think this one is my favorite! Note the lady saying, “No Vax!”
Plate Tectonic Bumper Cars
Mom’s description: “Small space with lots of friction means this ride is a real geology lesson~ ride moves a few inches every year! Just like real plate tectonics!”
I have to say, my idea of plate tectonic bumper cars involved cars shaped like Africa and Eurasia and such… perhaps I will have to make my own sketch, though I’m not as talented as my wonderful mom.
Tacoma Narrows Bridge Roller Coaster
Mom’s description: “Do you feel lucky? Well do you? Take a thrilling ride on the Tacoma Narrows Roller Coaster!”
Randi’s (Not) Flying Pig!
Mom’s description: “Children experience the realities of life as they sit on the flying pig that will not fly. When someone wins the million dollar prize, maybe this pig WILL fly and the children will have fun.”
And, last but not least…
Darwin’s Banana Ride
Mom’s description: “If you are a monkey’s uncle or a monkey, you’ll enjoying riding the evolution express! Fundies favorite fruit or mankind’s greatest food creation, the banana is symbolic of the struggle between science and religion. The ride is slow, but hey, so is evolution. Everyone learns at a snail’s pace!”
thanks for asking honey. Sorry people, you only get the rough drafts… hey I’m a professional here and for free you get rough drafts!
Anyway, give us YOUR rides!!!
The Gish Gallop Batter Cage. This is where you come up quickly with counter arguments to the long list of fallacies often used by the woo meisters.
(shouldn’t that be a ghost monkey in that banana?)
These are awesome! Your mom rocks! :D
Uber-cool !! Thanks for that Kittynh you rock indeed! And if you didn’t know, the name of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge that collapsed was Galloping Gertie.
I like!
I think my favorite is the last one with the banana. “The ride is slow, but hey, so is evolution.” Priceless.
Take a spin on the Detox Centrifuge, and feel your non-specific health complaints vanish! Get your photo taken on the set of the Apollo moon landing! Grab some refreshments at the Homeopathic beer tent! (No ID required.)
These are great! We’re sitting on a goldmine here people, a GOLDMINE!
@quarksparrow: I got totally plastered on homeopathic beer last night. I poured myself a glass, and then forgot to drink it.
Hmm… these skeptic rides (well, except for Whack-a-Woo and the Tacoma Rollercoaster) are sort of not fun… I think I’ll coax my mom to draw some more FUN skeptic rides… we want people to know skepticism is FUN!
Homeopathic beer = not fun
I will ponder this and perhaps submit a part 2…
What? And what happened to the Descent of Man idea some guy had in the last thread? That was the best one. :)
@quarksparrow: “Take a spin on the Detox Centrifuge, and feel your non-specific health complaints vanish! Get your photo taken on the set of the Apollo moon landing! Grab some refreshments at the Homeopathic beer tent! (No ID required.)”
COTW – These are brilliant!
@quarksparrow: Is that like the homeopathic beer found in That Mitchell & Webb Look sketch about a homeopathic emergency room?
Homeopathic lagers at 2:19:
What about the clairvoyant shooting gallery? You don’t know which box has the prize in it, but if you can hit the right one more often than chance alone, the prize is yours.
Also, “moving goalpost soccer”.
