On Time Comment o’ the Week!
That’s right, it’s Friday and I’m actually remembering to hand out an award for Comment o’ the Week! As a reminder, you can nominate your fave comment by logging in, clicking the little grey arrow by the comment, and writing “COTW” in your response.
Out of your nominations rose one winner, notable for the coining of a term I will use in the near future:

Ok, the Egyptian PM? He’s using what a friend of mine calls a “glass pipe argumentâ€, in that you have to be on crack to believe it.
“Europe can’t lecture us on human rights. Sure, we throw people in jail for disagreeing with the government, and only allow one political party, but you WON’T LET PEOPLE BUILD TOWERS! Sure, we’re complicit in the torture of prisoners from around the world, ’cause, hey, what’s a little water-boarding between friends… but you have enacted the equivalent of Home Owners Association building restrictions, so obviously you are the great Satan, and we are the beacon of the New Freedom. Insallah, may you feel the burning ass-raping of a million ifrit.â€
Good job, Mark! Your prize is to choose next Wednesday’s Afternoon Inquisition. Send it in using the contact form.
Gongrats, Mark!
Now, if I only had had an opportunity to use the term “glass pipe argument†since I stole it…
Congratulations.
Thank you, thank you. On this, the eve of my SECOND COTW award, I would like to re-iterate that I did not coin the phrase “glass pipe argument”, but I borrowed it from a friend. I paid him back by writing a short story in which a crazy person insisted that he had a made-up name and that real people didn’t have names like that.
So thank you, Irvin.
@Mark Hall: We know, but just think of the accolade as payment for “intellectual property dispensing”.
“Irvin”? Now, you’re just making that one up…

So I said. It’s a short story about someone who traded his sanity for superhuman strength, speed, and agility.
