It’s a better end for Willoughby than ending up jilting Marianne and marrying someone else for money, like he does in the original. And it makes her moping around for the rest of the book more understandable. I like it.
I’d like to see how they add monsters to Mansfield Park.
I like Jane Austen books, but get what you mean. They’re good, but for re-readability, I prefer Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights. I think the Brontë sisters had a darker touch to their writing, that you just isn’t as evident in Austen’s works…until, of course, they started doing these mash-ups :D
I’m a voracious reader, but I actually prefer the movie and TV adaptations of Austen novels to the book themselves – I think her stories lend themselves well to the medium (Emma Thompson’s/Ang Lee’s Sense & Sensibility is a favorite movie of mine).
Though Jasper Fforde’s The Eyre Affair is also an interesting take on retelling an public-domain classic, and well worth reading, too.
@KristinMH:
Damn skippy. Willoughby was an asshat. Funny thing–I just finished listening to Sense and Sensibility today (I love audiobooks). And last week I finished reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It was a hoot.
YAY more rewrites of Jane Austin! I so need to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Heh. I’ve had this on my Facebook page for a bit. I loved “Pride & Prejudice & Zombies” and am happily anticipating this.
I will be getting that book.
ROFL!!!
I posted this on Facebook recently. Both this book and Pride And Prejudice And Zombies are on my wishlist.
Also, more books should have trailers.
Definately one to read…
*Runs off to watch the Pride And Prejudice And Zombies trailer*
These books are just crying out to be made into movies.

Oh jeez. Am I the only one who REALLY can’t stand Jane Austin? I mean, besides Mark Twain, of course.
In the midst of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies right now. It’s awesome.
Aww, her dress was wet before entering the pond :(.
I like very much this kind of cross-overs. It’s the perfect film for cinephilic-incompatible couples.
Why hasen’t this been posted on Pharyngula there’s the obvious celaphoid there
