- In Malaysia, proposed laws would require women who travel alone abroad to have signed permission slips from husbands or employers.
- Measles vaccination rates have fallen, and measles cases are rising. Maybe there’s a connection?
- The NY Times profiles Louise Hay, a speaker and author who appears to operate on the general theory that “sick people just aren’t thinking positively.”
- ‘All religions are fairy tales.’ A billboard causes some fuss. I’m not sure if this is really any more offensive than all the billboards telling me I’m going to go to hell for all eternity, but maybe that’s just me.
- An Iranian woman has been given a suspended sentence of 10 lashes and six months in prison. Her crime? Feminist activism.
From the article on Louise Hay…
“So, I asked, with a situation like the Holocaust, the victims might have been an unfortunate group of souls who deserved what they got because of their behavior in past lives? ‘Yes, it can work that way,’ Hay said. ‘But that’s just my opinion.’ “
Sigh… I ‘m not sure if this is the stupidest explanation for the Holocaust that I’ve heard this month (…cough… Ben Stein…), but it’s close.
I want a copy of that billboard to plaster on my house.
Has anyone seen There Will Be Blood? I’d love a photoshopped (or, hell, ACTUAL) billboard of Daniel Plainview saying “I am a false prophet, God is a superstition.” I’d plaster that one on my house :)
People like Louise Hays made my life miserable for years. It drove me to write this:

and some other bits and pieces.
I also think it’s a shame they had to change that billboard.
Maybe you couldn’t see those crabs because you weren’t using positive thinking.
oops! wrong thread…
Chillzero … I think the last line of your blog entry pretty well sums it up. 8)
