absolutely off topic (but about Neil Gaiman)
This has absolutely nothing to do with skepticism but I have to post it because I am in love with Neil Gaiman. I would marry him if we weren’t both already married to other people. And, oh yeah, if we actually knew each other.
Neil’s got an online book tour going on, where you can catch all of the stops on the tour for The Graveyard Book (I’ll be at the stop next Tuesday night in Boulder!), and if you watch all of the segments, by the end of the tour, you’ll have seen and heard Neil read the entire book. Very cool, but buy a copy any way.
Here’s the skinny from Amazon:
Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy.
He would be completely normal if he didn’t live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.
There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy-an ancient Indigo Man beneath the hill, a gateway to a desert leading to an abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible menace of the Sleer.
But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack—who has already killed Bod’s family. . . .
Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times bestselling modern classic coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, the graveyard book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.
Whoa. Sounds truly bizarre.

I don’t think Neil Gaiman is ever off-topic!
have i mentioned that i <3 neil? and i am very happy he’ll finally be doing a signing for his hometown crowd after snubbing us minneapolitans for far too long to travel the world.
but, yeah…i totally <3 neil.
I would marry him if we weren’t both already married to other people. And, oh yeah, if we actually knew each other.
Which explains my extensive campaign to distract my wife whenever Gaiman visits the U.S.
…I wonder if anyone sells a Neil Gaiman mask…
Pardon my ignorance, but why is everyone here (at least those who are straight and female) all but worshipping this guy Neil Gaiman? Is he really that hot personally, or is it because of something he wrote? If the latter, what was it?
~Wordplayer
@Wordplayer: yes, Neil is a fairly attractive man and just about everything he’s written is absolutely awesome.
@JakeL: Wow, he is a rather pretty guy at that. If I were gay, I’d definitely share the possessive sentiments expressed here.
~Wordplayer
Yeah, he’s pretty. But he’s also smart. His writing is great, and he always has really creative ideas about marketing, too. Oh, and he writes with a fountain pen, which I think is pretty cool.
Damn! I always write with a computer. Guess that just ain’t manly enough these days. T_T
@Wordplayer:
Hey, I am gay, and yet if I had the chance I would still make sweet, sweet monkey love to Neil Gaiman. His writing is wonderful, but also extremely intelligent and creative. Also, Good Omens is the best end times book ever.
Oh, also the sexy voice.
Yep, definitely got me a man crush for Neil. Sandman is amazing and I believe is still discussed in some colleges as regular literature. All of his books and short stories are wonderful.
Wordplayer: Read some of his stuff. I’ll bet you won’t be disappointed.
I agree,Gaiman is an amazing writer. I first read him in Good Omens (with Terry Pratchett, another genius) and then the Sandman series. All of his books are good, and he sounds like an interesting guy.
