- Photos: What the Youth Climate Strike Looks Like around the World, by Brian Resnick and Danielle Scruggs, Vox: The climate strikes around the world on Friday, September 20, were nothing short of extraordinary, although I fear the second round, last Friday, got lost amid impeachment news in the US. This collection of photos is inspiring and urgent. We can’t lose the momentum to make the changes that young people all over the world are demanding.
- A Dead Man’s Hard Drive Is the ‘Most Perfect’ Example of White Supremacy in Our Lifetime, by Michael Harriot, the Root: “Calling Hofeller a ‘political strategist’ or a ‘political consultant’ is like referring to Satan as an ‘ex-choir member’ or ‘a former minister of music.’ Long before Hofeller died in Aug 2018, he was hailed as the white supremacist Lex Luthor (not to say that Lex isn’t a bigot already; I wouldn’t want to ruin his street cred). Called the ‘Master of the Modern Gerrymander,’ Hofeller pioneered using race to redraw political maps to hand electoral advantages to Republicans.” H/t Muscadine.
- Diverse Legal Network Boosts Low-Wage Women’s #MeToo Cases, by David Crary, Associated Press: “[Jaribu Hill] is among 721 attorneys inspired by the #MeToo movement who have signed up with the Times Up Legal Defense Fund since it launched last year. While the movement burst into the spotlight in October 2017 with celebrities and others accusing powerful men of sexual misconduct, the fund is reaching everyday working women who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to take their complaints to court.”
