It’s been “cute animal week” in my astrobiology class as we discuss the nature of intelligence. Meet Rio, the sea lion who can tell numbers from letters. There were definitely several “awwws” heard around the lab. We contrasted that experimental design with that of a classic skeptics’ tale, the story of Clever Hans.
