No More #TrumpCamps Call Your Governor and Elected Officials

Call to action, enough is enough.

Normally, I would post about the cool shit on Mad Art Lab on a Monday and yes, there is cool stuff there, so after you do what you need to do, go check it out. But first, we have more important fish to fry.

Trump’s concentration camps have finally been exposed for what they are, as journalists and a few lawyers have finally got a peek into the horrendous conditions of these camps. Children caring for other sick children without even being provided SOAP or toothbrushes. Kids sleeping on the concrete floor. Uncooked frozen food, if food at all. Allegations of sexual abuse. First of all, you can not call a situation sanitary without soap… OH, but they tried. Because the people putting kids behind chicken wire fences are monsters. Does this sound hyperbolic to you? I honestly dngaf. Just like I dngaf if you try to tell me that Obama started this practice. I literally don’t care if my mom started this policy. It has to end now. It has gone far beyond what should be considered out of control. It’s racist and it’s horrifying and it’s forever damaging the lives of these children.

So sorry, religious right, but you don’t get to be pro-life and pro-putting-kids-in-concentration-camps. That’s picking whose life is valuable, and that my religious friends, is playing God. It’s time we all rise up together and demand that people be allowed to seek refuge in our country as it is legal to that. We must also demand that children not be separated from their families at the borders.

Hey, don’t take my just my word for what is happening. Here are just a few links to reporting on this situation:

A firsthand report of ‘inhumane conditions’ at a migrant children’s detention facility PBS

New York Times Migrant Camps OP ED

Migrant children describe neglect and mistreatment at a Texas border facility

Attorneys say children described neglect at border detention facility

And here is where the Feds argued that kids are “safe and sanitary” without even being given soap.

Ok cool, so now that we are caught up on the basics of what is happening I ask that you call your elected officials and demand the camps be dismantled and that the people, especially children be reunited with their families and be allowed to seek refuge without being put in a dangerous camp. I have already contacted the Governor of California and volunteered my home. Yep, I will happily take in a migrant family and feed them and give them all the soap and snacks they want while they await their application to live here. Seriously, seems like the least I can do is help someone who is desperate to save their family. Sure. Count me in. I have an extra bed, soap and a garden. I’m in.

Oh hey and btw, (most of) my relatives escaped Nazi Germany so don’t bother lecturing me on the semantics of “Concentration camps.” As a kid I was very specifically taught by my father’s family about what to watch out for and how to identify fascism and I know when to call a concentration camp what it is. It’s what it is. It’s time we rise up and stop it.

CALL TO ACTION: if you are in a border state: CALL YOUR GOVERNOR and demand an end to camps on our soil. Its VERY easy to get the number, I’ll put it here again:

If you are in any other state PLEASE call your representatives PARTICULARLY if you are in a red state. Enough is enough. Remind your red state elected officials that Jesus traveled and if someone snatched him from Mary’s arms and put him in a cage, that wouldn’t be cool.
Here is how you contact your senators:

Call your House Representative, tell them how you feel and demand they start impeachment hearings. While impeachment my not help dismantle camps, it will get information about the crimes committed by the Trump family out in to the open. You’d be surprised how many people have never read the Mueller report and do not understand the truth of what is happening. Even if Trump is not impeached by the Senate the information that could be shared by impeachment hearings is incredibly valuable to the entire world. Here is how you contact your House Rep:

Have money? Want to send it somewhere to help? Raices is a good org providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees in Central and South Texas.

Don’t bother calling or emailing Trump. That dude is too far down the rabbit hole. But I just made this piece of art for my patrons to download poster size. Feel free to tweet it at him or any of the people who represent you. Your tax dollars are paying for your reps salary and for the concentration camps while Trump and his family profit from this presidency. Get angry.
