Quickies: The “real” Captain Marvel, teapot physics, same-sex marriage in Taiwan…
... and a whole heap of cute animals
Today is a special Cute Animal Friday because you get not one, not two, but THREE adorable puppers! Say hello to Rocket, Booster, and Comet, furbabies of the amazing Surly Amy. It is a life goal of mine to have a pack as sweet as these three. I think it’s safe to say that we could all use a cuddle with our favorite animal with the week of news we’ve had.
I decided that, in addition to adorable fauna, I’d stick with some stories that would inspire you for the fights ahead, or at least give you a moment of distraction by something cool:
- Meet Brigadier General Jeannie Leavitt, the first female fighter pilot in the Air Force, and hear how she trained Brie Larson for her role as Captain Carol Danvers in this two minute video on Mashable.
- Two years after a court ruled that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry in Taiwan, a law is passed allowing same-sex marriages, despite a public referendum that rejected the idea. Congrats, Taiwan!
- You know how teapots can have that annoying dribble of water every time you pour? Jennifer Ouellette tells us about the actual physics of this phenomenon over at Ars Technica.
- A sad cute animal story, as Grumpy Cat has died at the age of 7. Real name Tardar Sauce, she will be missed by her loving fur-family and the denizens of the internet who have enjoyed her memes for years.
- More cute animals: Here are silver desert ants with some epic theme music and a cat who won’t let their human do calligraphy, submitted by Muscadine. Meanwhile, Imgur tweeted pictures bumblebee butts (thanks, Rebecca) and Jamie has been won over by some adorable fluffy goslings (see images below). I, however, remain skeptical that they won’t grow up to be evil monsters.

Thanks for featuring my fam. ???
Was supposed to be a heart and paws emoji in my comment but I’m seeing question marks.
Either way, thanks. Xoxo
I think Rocket is the only one I’ve actually met. I need to plan another West Coast trip so I can snuggle them all!
Yes, please!
