How About We DON’T Free Julian Assange

Sweden to possibly pursue rape allegations.

It is being reported today by the New York Times and other news sources that Sweden has announced today that it will possibly reopen the rape allegation case against WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange. I think this is great news. It may not be wonderful news for the United States government, who is trying to extradite him to America to charge him with alleged hacking crimes and breach of classified data, but it is good news for the women of the world.

Let me remind you, that regardless of how you feel about Mr Assange, you may think he is a freedom fighting messenger of truth who is there for the good of the world, whose sole purpose in life is to disseminate information and protect the free press and speak truth to power. OR, you may think he is totes BFFs with Roger-I wish-I Was-Nixon-Stone and Trump-I’m-too-uneducated-to-charge-with-a-crime-Jr and that he spent the latter half of his freedom-fighting career, doing crimes and conspiring with the white, wealthy and racist, to destroy Hillary Clinton and help Elect Donald-I’m-A-Tyrant-Trump. Either way, it’s irrelevant at this particular juncture in time. What is relevant, and should come first, is answers to the questions that caused Julian to initially hide his ultra-white-ass in the Ecuadorian Embassy for almost SEVEN years. Did he sexually assault two women in Stockholm?

I think it’s great that we might get the answers to those questions.

From the NYT:

“I take the view that there exists the possibility to take the case forward,” Ms. Persson said. The decision to reopen the preliminary investigation is not equivalent to making a decision to indict him, she said, but a European arrest warrant will be issued so that the Swedish authorities can ultimately take Mr. Assange into custody and question him.

Then, after the answers to why Julian ran and hid in Ecuador to avoid rape charges are answered by Swedish authorities, the United States government can fight it out to see if they can get answers to whether or not he worked with the Russians and/or the Trump Campaign’s associates to steal documents from presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton and the DNC or if he directly stole info on his own. Or maybe, Trump can attempt to use him as a prop to try to further stifle the freedom of the press. Or, maybe he’s a totes innocent guy who was falsely accused and just really enjoyed the time he spent at the Ecuadorian embassy petting his cat. Time will hopefully tell us those tales.

I’m just happy that the accusations of sexual assault victims, are at least for the moment, being taken seriously. It seemed those original accusations were to be swept under the rug in pursuit of other legal action. All too often women are ignored and demonized while men are exonerated when sexual assault accusations are raised. Maybe this time, we will get the answers and the truth we all want and deserve.
