Quickies: Empathy, female authors, and a Stonewall monument
- They have to be monsters – On empathy, the internet, and why people see others as monsters.
- 100 must read sci-fi fantasy novels by female authors – So much excellent reading to be had.
- Justice Department challenges North Carolina bathroom law – From criticaldragon1177.
- Obama to name Stonewall first national monument for gay rights – “The gritty tavern, known colloquially as the Stonewall, became a catalyst for the gay rights movement after police raided it on June 28, 1969. Bar-goers fought back, and many more joined in street protests over the following days in an uprising widely credited as the start of large-scale gay activism in New York and around the word. Annual pride parades in hundreds of cities commemorate the rebellion.”

Good for Obama. The president trying to get the federal government to recognize it as a monument to the gay rights movement is a sign of progress.
Cool. Also about nug?700’s comment on http://blog.codinghorror.com/they-have-to-be-monsters/
I think there is something off.
As I am not a sociologist, I would like someone more knowledgeable to debunk nug700’s claim that male privilege doesn’t exist and that it is females that have the advantage. To someone like me it would be easy to be taken in by nug700’s claims as it all looks so scientific but there is just something off somehow.
When I found a positive homeopathy study, I was shocked that I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Which is why I realized, I have a lot of learning about scientific skeptism to do.
