Kesha’s Instagram

This is just a very quick update on the ongoing story of musician Kesha who was allegedly raped by her music producer. She has been fighting a legal battle to try to get out of her contract with Sony and I posted about it when the her initial legal request was denied.

Today she posted this on Instagram:

so. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.

This is an example of rape culture. First the woman is not believed. Then she is blamed for what happened. Then she is expected internalize the crime and to apologize.

This is bullshit.

Show your support for rape victims and show your support for Kesha as she stands up for not only herself, but sexual assault victims everywhere.

  2. This makes me sick. I’m going to reblog it over at FTB… she deserves all of the love and support we can give her.

  3. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Kesha song aside from “Tik-Tok”, but I am so disgusted by Sony and amazed by Kesha’s continued badassery that I can’t wait to buy whatever her post-freedom album is
