Sorta transcript:

“Mo” and “Et” are two YouTube stars who earned their fame through “pranks”. If you’re not aware, “pranks” are now defined as actions designed to make people people hate you. With that goal, they could be anything from shouting racial slurs at school children to dropping puppies off tall buildings. Pranks!

In the past, Mo and Et have come under scrutiny for their habit of going to “the projects” in New York and encouraging black men to beat them up by pretending to violate their privacy or threatening them or bringing dangerous weapons into their neighborhoods. Pranks! Great pranks.

Today I saw another of Mo and Et’s classic pranks on Facebook. It had nearly 13 million views, and another 1.5 million on YouTube, so I knew it must be a good one. In this one, Et walks up to a woman in the park and tells her that he knows her boyfriend. She says she doesn’t have one. He leaves.

Next, Mo walks up and asks the woman her name, where she goes to school, and what she studies. She politely gives him all this information. Then Mo tells her that he attends the same college and studies the same subject and suggests that they study together, alone, and get the job done. That’s how he puts it. “We could like study later alone, together, get the job done.”

She politely declines and tells him that she has a boyfriend. He responds by telling her that he knows she doesn’t. Then he fills up with rage and starts cursing her out. “I’m fucking tired of this shit. You’ll never have a boyfriend. You’re on camera, too. I’m fucking out of here.”

Then he stomps off to somewhere private, where he then presumably reviews the footage with Et and decides that yes, this is an excellent prank that makes women look bad and himself look like a hero.

Hoooooooly shit, you guys. First of all, this “prank” requires that the men who came up with it have no idea why women tell men they have boyfriends in the first place. Apparently they think that we do that because we’re spiteful beasts who wish to lie in order to deny men what’s rightfully theirs, i.e., our pussies. Sorry boys, but women lie and say they have boyfriends because saying “Sorry, I’m not interested” often results in the man ignoring her and continuing to pester her, or getting angry and escalating. This is especially true when the guy is already aggressive. For these men, the woman’s opinion isn’t important. The only thing that will dissuade him, maybe, is if he believes that she’s already another man’s property.

The video proves that, in fact. Despite the fact that the woman is incredibly kind to this random sleeze, he immediately escalates and gets infuriated in what would be a pretty scary way if you were alone in a park and had no idea who this guy is.

On a personal note, this happened to me just last week. A drunk man approached me and started suggesting we hang out. When he wouldn’t accept that I wasn’t interested, I said I had a boyfriend. Then he started coming up with reasons why I should dump my boyfriend. So, I was telling the truth and even that didn’t work. The only thing that did work was when a man I didn’t know came over, asked if I was okay, and then asked the guy to move along. Shoutout to the second dude: you’re awesome!

And to Et and Mo, you’re awesome, too! Oh hold up, that was just a “prank” from me. I totally pranked you! What a great prank! No, you’re bitter assholes who need a good therapist to work out your self-esteem issues. Good luck with that.

  1. Scary stuff, but to be honest their audience are equally to blame. Without a fan base of really classy people they probably wouldn’t be engaging in this behavior.

  2. Completely disingenuous come-ons don’t warrant honest rejections. You think she can’t tell you’re lying about “studying together” dude #2? Really?

  3. “Studying together and get the job done” is the new “go up to my room and discuss your ideas over coffee.”
