Quickies: Liquid water on Mars, Brogressives, and a badass lobsterwoman

  • NASA announces discovery of liquid water on Mars – “Liquid water has been observed on the planet Mars, the US space agency NASA said Monday. “Mars is not the dry, arid planet we thought of in the past,” Jim Green, NASA’s planetary science director, told a press conference.” From Criticaldragon1177.
  • Canada’s Tinder men are annoying black women with their racist and sexist bullshit – “The stereotype of the hypersexual and primitive Jezebel, sparked by the Transatlantic Slave Trade, has continued to plague black women and their relationships…Today, not much has changed the minds of men who think that black women have no talents except those in the bedroom.”
  • Meet the Brogressive, your new worst enemy – “We filled out the surveys handed to us when we walked into the seminar room. Under the section where we were supposed to circle which aspects of progressive politics interested us, I glanced at his paper, only to see he chose every possible answer except for “Racial Justice,” LGBTQ Rights,” and “Women’s Rights.”” From Courtney.
  • Young lobsterwoman is “the most badass woman on the water” – ““One thing I like about being a girl out here is that they can’t pay me less than a guy,” Samuels told the Globe. “They just can’t. There’s a price per pound, and fuel costs the same whether you’re a guy or a girl. Any other job, they’d pay what — 73 cents to a man’s dollar, statistics say?””

  1. We used to call them brocialists.

Though some of the assertions are just plain wrong. The reason people hate Tumblr is more for the tendency to say things along the lines of boys can’t like MLP while claiming to be feminist. Or telling Indians we can’t talk about our police brutality issues. (This is always white people saying this, I swear…)
