Quickies: Bill Cosby’s admission, Tom Cruise, athletes come in all shapes and sizes, and the truth about bogs
- Why Bill Cosby’s admission should put an end to the era of Cosby defenders – “As accusers began to come forward in startling volume, those who believed in the Cosby’s innocence could plead that the comedy icon was being tried in the court of public opinion, rather than in a court of law, and that “outrage culture” was leading women to lodge charges that might or might not be true.” From Amy.
- Tom Cruise leaving Scientology? – Via The Toast who aptly puts it: “I will not believe that Tom Cruise is leaving Scientology until he punches Miscavige in the face on live television, but a girl can dream.”
- Hammer thrower Amanda Bingson says athletes come in all shapes and sizes – NSFW photos. From Ray.
- Bogs: Myth vs. Fact – I love how adorable and educational Bird and Moon comics are.
“Should” doesn’t mean “will”. America loves its celebrities.
Oh, another possible effect of global warming, more wildfires in the prairie provinces. A friend of mine has started a Gofundme for aid for northern AB reserves.
People have gone to the chair on way less evidence than that against Cosby. On the other hand, innocent folk have gone to the chair.
The evidence against him was overwhelming before this latest disclosure. Now it is pretty much impossible to believe he didn’t do it on a regular basis.
It is of course possible that some of the allegations are eventually shown to be false. But absent evidence of some loony billionaire spending $20million a year to create false claims, it looks pretty solid.
I’m a little behind in the Cosby story, but reading the original articles it seemed he was passing it off as giving the women drugs in exchange for sex, not admitting that he had drugged them to commit rape. It looked to me like he was still talking around what he’d done.
To be clear I believe that he did deliberately and secretly drug women to commit rape. I add this as the statement’s been misunderstood where I’ve posted it elsewhere.
