I am here to tell you that I am hosting another meetup for the Los Angeles Women’s Atheist and Agnostic Group! Yeah, it’s got “women” in the title because we are fierce, large and in charge and leading the group. BUT you are cordially invited, regardless of gender, to participate and hang with us this coming Tuesday at CFI Los Angeles!
And the fun NEWEST of the news is that we are starting a book club!
Join the Los Angeles Women’s Atheist and Agnostic group Tuesday, June 2nd for a fun meet-up where we will kick off a side project that is going to become our book club!
Normally, the book club will meet on its very own day- probably as a brunch type gathering or maybe even as a virtual hangout to make it even easier to attend! But we thought it would be fun to have the kickoff as a potluck and hangout with as many people IRL as possible to see what everyone wants to read and where and when they would like to meet. AND we can hangout and have a fun potluck dinner together and talk about goddess things. You know all the things that have nothing to do with the bible. WOOHOO!
Please bring a small plate of something to share if you can. (Not required to attend.) I am going to make my famous hummus and some delicious pasta salad! SO take that! No really, take a plate of it, it’s really good and happens to be vegan!
We also have chosen a short book to read and talk about at this first (sorta) book club meeting. It is called “Feminism is For Everybody” by Bell Hooks. You obviously do not have to read it to attend the meeting because you might have just now heard about it. But we will briefly discuss the book and who knows, maybe you will want to read it later because it is quite insightful and empowering!
We are much more interested in building friendly community and seeing your shiny faces in attendance than anything else, and we will use this meetup to pick books for future reads and to hang out and chat and plan fun things like; where our book club will meet and when our next art show should be, and when we can all go see Mad Max again!
