Quickies: Street harassment, the colors of blood, and science for her

- 10 hours of walking in NYC as a woman – In case you haven’t seen it yet, here it is. Also, there’s some problems with it. Also, the actor’s been receiving rape threats.
- The chemistry of the different colors of blood – An appropriately Halloweeny science topic.
- We regret that your request of “gotta hear both sides” has been denied – From Amy.
- Megan Amram’s “Science…For Her!” book – I desperately want this for my coffee table. From Sarah.
Somewhere in the comments, a woman mentioned that the only way to stop this kind of harassment was to indicate she had a boyfriend. They respected a fictional male more than a real female.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if they repeated the experiment with a guy walking beside her (holding hands, whatevs, to indicate their relationship).
Suddenly all those people who are just “friendly” will likely have nothing to say.
re the 10 hours – is the harassment a New York thing?
