- Why anti-vaxxers might be creating a world of more dangerous viruses – From CriticalDragon1177.
- Is using the “white” as a racial identifier racist itself? – And I recommend checking out the rest of the Medieval POC blog as well. From miserlyoldman.
- Genetically identical bacteria can behave in radically different ways – “In a recent study, researchers at the University of Washington showed that when a bacterial cell divides into two daughter cells there can be an uneven distribution of cellular organelles. The resulting cells can behave differently from each other, depending on which parts they received in the split.”
- Holly war – The post-Christmas briefing at the militant atheists headquarters, according to Tree Lobsters.
Medieval POC is frequently full of shit.
I’m not sure it’s true that vaccines prompt antigenic drift in viruses. While antibiotics can promote the rise of resistant bacteria, antibiotics are given after the fact, when the infection is established and there’s a large population of bacteria to be killed or otherwise affected by the AB, and any surviving bacteria are a sturdier strain. But vaccines prevent the viruses from causing an infection in the 1st place, so if there’s no viral replication, how can the viruses evolve?
If there are any immunologists lurking about, this point could be clarified.
