EVENT: Join Jamie and Nicole @ Skeptics Under the Stars THIS WEEKEND

It is not too late to register for Skeptics Under the Stars this weekend. In fact, you can still get half-price or even free tickets if you can’t afford the registration. If you’re in the Midwest, you can probably even find some ride-sharing as well to help keep costs down. Plus there are opportunities to share camping equipment! Contact Jamie Bernstein for details on all of the above.

Skeptics Under the Stars is basically the most awesome family-friendly camping astronomy mashup you can possibly imagine. Held at McIntyre Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin, the event has food, drinks, boats, science demos, a tour of Yerkes Observatory, and a guided tour of the Universe by our very own Noisy Astronomer, Nicole Gugliucci!

Nicole recently did an extremely popular hands-on astronomy workshop as part of SkepchickCon, and she regularly brings the science to kids and adults through her work with CosmoQuest. In short, she not only knows her stuff when it comes to the cosmos, but she is also a fantastic, entertaining educator and presenter.

The event is brought to you by Women Thinking, Inc.,  the non-profit spin-off of Skepchick. The organization does amazing work (think Hug Me! I’m Vaccinated, for example) and can do even more with your help, if you can spare a buck or two. Click here to donate. Donations from those who can afford it go toward more fun and educational events and activism as well as toward such things as the free and half-price tickets offered here, helping bring the science and fun to more people, regardless of income.

You can find out more about attending Skeptics Under the Stars and register on the event website. If you are planning on going, be sure to also RSVP on the facebook page.

  1. Anyway to get these tickets under $100, I have a few friends that want to go, but they can’t really afford that price.

        1. Please have them email me ASAP. There are $50 and $0 tickets available for anyone who needs them. Even if they aren’t 100% sure they can come, I do need to know that they are interested as soon as possible. –> [email protected]

        2. Oh, I also want to point out that the $125 (or the optional $100 price) includes food and alcohol, plus you don’t need to pay for a hotel room. This makes this one of the cheapest weekend cons around, if you can even call it a con. But still, we understand that it is still too high a cost for some people, which is why we made sure to raise extra money for everyone who needs it. We don’t want anyone to not be able to come merely because of an issue of registration price, which is why we have free and subsidized registrations available for anyone who feels they needs it.
