Mary has informed me that today is National Pancake Day. You can celebrate by getting a free short stack at IHOP or by trying this epically delicious cloud cake recipe. (Pancakes are not just for breakfast, after all.)
- Seventh grade girl builds rocket, sends Hello Kitty into stratosphere – The rocket made it 25 miles up! Check out the video.
- Religious right talk show: Wombs of women on birth control “embedded with dead babies” – Omg, reproduction? How does that work? From CriticalDragon1177.
- When taking multiple husbands makes sense – An anthropology 101 lesson on kinship in article format. From Mark.
- To my male relatives on Facebook who “like” sexism – I love the protest sign pictured with the article.
Amanda,
That Hello Kitty Rocket is cute. I’m impressed that Melody Green was able to launch it into space. If I was here teacher, I’d give her an A+ for that.
Melody Green, and rockets, are both very impressive.
I just showed the birth control article to a friend. She said she imagined an inside-out (outside-in?) katamari that had just rolled through the nursery ward.
Moonglaive,
katamari? Isn’t that an old video game character that is a giant ball, that grows as it consumes everything? Is this what she was thinking of?

Alas, the altitude of the rocket was given in meters, so it only made it to 17 miles. Still very respectable. I suspect it is the highest altitude ever obtained by a Hello Kitty.
I really want to find these so-called scientists and doctors he’s referring to. My eyes rolled a lot while reading it.
And yay for hello kitty rocket!!
