- Redesigned Girl Scout merit badges – I love these so much.
- How not to get punished for being a woman – Video from Amnesty International on the guardianship system in Saudi Arabia.
- How unfathomable were your odds of coming into being? – From Mark.
- Occupy Wall Street: How about we occupy rape culture? – “In Zuccotti Park, Tonye Iketubosin, a kitchen worker with OWS, has been charged with groping an 18-year-old female demonstrator, as well as being a suspect in the rape of another 18-year-old demonstrator. In Glasgow, a 28-year-old woman was raped at the George Square encampment early in the morning and police are currently investigating the attack. That’s just this week alone.”
Love the new Girl Scout badge designs but what caught my eye while on Neatorama was a recent article.

WTF is wrong with these people?
Amanda,
Think we are just lucky we are here, that “How unfathomable were your odds of coming into being?” just backs up that idea.
The new merit badges seem like a load of newage (rhymes with sewage). “Science of Happiness”? I have a better idea: Girl Scouts should be able to earn all the same merit badges that Boy Scouts can.
On a related topic: Is there a scouting-like organization that has gone co-ed?
Why do you assume that the boy scout badges are so different? Inventor, public policy, website designer – those seem like great badge ideas to me. I think inventor was around back when I was a scout, or at least something like it.
And why would the Girl Scouts want to be more like the Boy Scouts? They’re two totally separate organizations and the Girl Scouts don’t discriminate.
I’ve got to say that I actually thought what @pciszek said when I first saw them too but then I don’t know what requirements the Science of Happiness or Voice for Animals badges would consist of.
I assume it might be something like a volunteering badge and animal advocacy which, if that’s true, would be better names.
I agree that the Girl Scouts should want to be less like the Boy Scouts rather than more.
As for co-ed clubs there’s alway 4H and FFA.
Yes- how about it?
