- Climate change: public skeptical, scientists sure: “The American public is less likely to believe in global warming than it was just five years ago. Yet, paradoxically, scientists are more confident than ever that climate change is real and caused largely by human activities.” (From Tmac57.)
- Want to help improve medical science reporting? Welcome to Science-ish. (From PrimevilKneivel.)
- Whining may be world’s most annoying sound. Parents the world over say, “Um, yeah, of course.” (From cerberus40.)
- The biology of ethics: “When it comes to morality, the philosopher Patricia Churchland refuses to stand on principle.”
Whining is super annoying, but I question their methods. “…the whining sample actually came from an adult…” A whiny kid is aggravating but a whining adult makes me want to punch them in the face and scream “grow up!” The article claims that previous research shows kid and adult whining to be similar enough, but I think that unless the two whines are indistinguishable, then the study is misleading. Anyone know what this previous research was?
