Changes at Skepchick

I’m sad to report that two of our beloved Skepchick writers have moved on to new and exciting ventures: Tracy King and Karen Stollznow. Both Tracy and Karen are incredibly smart and capable ladies, and they both have so much awesomeness to accomplish that they no longer have time to blawg for us. I think I speak for all the Skepchicks when I say we’ll miss them terribly but they will always have a guest pass to use the hot tub at the Skepchick Manor. However, towel service and margarita delivery are no longer complimentary.

On a brighter note, we have several new Skepchick writers joining! They will be introducing themselves in posts coming up in the next several days. They were chosen for their overwhelming levels of radness, so I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Speaking of expansion, please let me know via email at rebecca at skepchick.org if you or someone you know would like to write for Teen Skepchick. Ideally they would be a teenage girl, but I’m also willing to accept non-teens who are interested in reaching out to that audience.

I’ve mentioned in the past the idea of another sister site to Skepchick . . . that is happening soon and I will be purposely vague so as to build the excitement. You’re on the edge of your seat, aren’t you? Aren’t you??

Anyway, seriously, yeah. Exciting times ahead!

  1. A fond farewell to Tracy and Karen *sniff* but knowing what else they are doing I am amazed they were able to stay around this long. I’m amazed that any of the contributors are able to blog here with all the other things they do.

And damn you miss Rebecca, you got my stomach all sick-nervous in anticipation.

  2. Sorry to see them go, but they need to go where they are most useful in bringing some desperately needed critical thinking to the world.
Safe travels, ladies. I hope you’ll check in once in awhile!

  3. I just realized that I may have inadvertantly opened a big old can-o-worms but calling Ms. Watson miss.

I try to use ms. to show that I understand the old husband-property connetations of Mrs. are so over and that miss is rather paroquial if quaint, but until I saw it written out, I did not realize that there was no accepted long-form version of ms.

Weird huh? Anyway, no offense intended.

  4. Best wishes to Tracy and Karen in all they do. They will be missed around here.

Hooray for new writers! Can’t wait to meet them.

Double hooray for the upcoming Skepchick sister site! And I think I know what it iiiiiiisssssss!

  5. I’m regularly amazed at all the blogging and writing efforts I see in the skeptical community that are of good to great to amazing in quality, and nearly all are unpaid and done on top of other job and family commitments. Thanks Tracey and Karen!!

  6. Good luck Tracy and Karen on whatever you are going to do next

Wonders what the new writers are like…

Wonders what the new Skepchick sister site will be…

  7. @Elyse: Is it a blog about me?

    It’s a blog about me, isn’t it.

So, SO disrespectful. Unless it has top hats and arm garters. In which case it’s very respectful.

What was I saying? Oh! Yeah, very sad to see Karen and Tracy go, but thankfully, their output will be regularly visible (or accessible, at least indirectly). They’ve been a great part of this blog!

  8. @Elyse: You mean it’s not a site about @Some Canadian Skeptic? I feel cheated.

Anyway, I’ll take that bet. 50 pesos and I’ll throw in some home made peanut butter & chocolate chip cookies.
I’ll expect the pesos to arrive in a small burlap pouch. I will bake and consume the cookies by myself. Alone. In a blanket fort.
