Drinking Skepchickally Chicago – Non-stop Party Edition!

Seems Chicago is the new Skeptic Mecca! Over the next few weeks we’re going to be hosting parties for world-traveling Skeptical pilgrims!

This Saturday, August 22, at 7:30pm, we will be meeting at Galway Arms to meet Data_Jack who will be traveling all the way from… I think drinkineatinTwitter. Anyway, he’s coming here and he wants to meet YOU and me and all of our loved ones… but only the skeptical ones… well, maybe non-skeptical ones, too, if they’re nice and want to buy me beers.

You can come meet up with us after warming up with the Chicago Skeptics at 12:30pm at the Black Rock on Damen. They’ll be solving the world’s problems, starting with curing Wikipedia of all that ails it.

Next Saturday, August 29, you’re going to want to wake up early because it’s the Skeptic High Holiday and festivities are a-go-go all over the city!

(more skeptic madness after the jump!)

  • In the morning will be the very first ever, anywhere, Skeptics in the Park! Right here! In Chicago! (Well, in Buffalo Grove to be exact). Skeptics in the Park is going to be a meet-up group for skeptically inclined parents who want to meet other parents who love things like vaccines and the SGU. Join the Meet-Up group for more info!
  • That evening, the grown-ups party will be a beer and curry fries reception to welcome Daniel Arndt (pronounced: Ubermoogle back in his native land) on his pilgrimage all the way from Canada! He’ll be easy to find since he’ll be the one riding a moose. Where else would we hold a beer and curry fries reception but back at Galway Arms! Be there!

And if you’re like Friendly Atheist Hemant and me, you’re too cool for Dragon*Con. Instead you’re going to stay in town and party with us as we welcome the British people to America and show them a good time, Skepchickal Style (and Hemant style, too… if you’re into maths)! For this Very.Special.Intercontinental.Welcome.Event, we’ll be partying our lives away at Matisse (which you may remember from My Birthday Party Fame) starting on Saturday, Sept 5 at 7:30PM Central Awesome Time. Deets on this once-in-a-sometimes event can be found on Facebook.

  1. Why do all these things happen when I am working? Hope everyone who gets to go has enough fun for the rest of us!

  2. Elyse, we are actually traveling all the way from Wisconsin. That’s like Canada, only cheesier. And just as cold, but not as cool.

  3. @Detroitus:

will you still love me if I told you I just realized who you are IRL?

Anyway, I’ve heard that some of the great skeptics of our time have celebrated birthdays at Matisse! Good times will be had they will they will!

  4. @DataJack:
“we are actually traveling all the way from Wisconsin. That’s like Canada, only cheesier. And just as cold, but not as cool.”

That is probably the best description of Wisconsin I’ve ever heard.
