Comment o’ the Week
First of all, every single person I know has sent me this image of an Amazon review of The Secret, and yet none of those people knew that I was in the midst of writing a great big rant all about The Secret, therefore I believe I called that book review into existence by manfiesting a new reality or something. Anyway, there it is and thanks to those of you who saw it and thought of me!
I knew when Elyse combined my two favorite things – robots and sex – into one Afternoon Inquisition, I was sure to find plenty of comments that would make me happy. I did, and so did you apparently, since a few were nominated for COTW. It was a tough call to decide between a great post by Steve DeGroof and a similarly great post by Howard, but ultimately the prize must go to Howard because Steve can only win so many before the other commenters conspire to have him destroyed. Here’s Howard’s winning moment:

My wife and I have an open-source relationship.
And let’s see, that winning post was nominated by . . . GOD DAMN IT STEVE, do you never sleep, man?
Congratulations, Howard, you win lots and lots of robot sex! Since there isn’t a robot currently designed for such a thing, we’ll substitute a Roomba. Make your own suction jokes if you will.
No, he doesn’t need to…Steve is a Blogbot. :-D
The amazon review guy is a GENIUS, his other reviews have been posted here http://skepchick.org/skepticsguide/index.php/topic,17074.0.html
The bucket one blew my mind.
Awesome review on Amazon — thanks for bringing it to light — I’m sure I’m one of the last people to read it.
I was home from work Monday (bad cold). I alternated between taking naps, chugging Nyquil and reading Skepchick. Anything I might have written that day might have been a bit off kilter as a result. Any other day, I have no excuse.
Well, I’m … I’m speechless, really. I am deeply humbled to receive this award. I felt it was an honor just to be nominated. I really don’t have anything prepared.

… ahem … Webster’s dictionary defines comment as “A remark, observation, or criticism; gossip; discourse; talk.” To paraphrase Stan Lee, with great comments come great responsibility, and I shall endeavor my utmost to conduct myself for the next seven days in a way that honors the previous winners, and the heritage that COTW epitomizes.
I hope to do you all proud.
I’d like to thank Steve for the nomination. And of course, I’d like to thank Rebecca, Stacey, tkingdoll, Masala_Skeptic, a.real.girl, Elyse, Jill, Jen — I hope I’m not leaving anyone out — C L P Iwan, Bug Girl, Amanda, Evelyn, Vera, writerdd, and the rest for providing such a wonderful forum for me to comment in. And I must thank my parents — Hi, Mom! — without whom I would never have considered robot sex.
You know, when I told my psychic adviser about that dream where I saw my dead grandfather, she told me that it meant good things were coming my way. And she was right. Thanks, Madame Leota! There’s a little something extra for you in this week’s fellowship offering. (Don’t worry; it’s just more money.)
Finally, I’d like to thank my Lord and Sav-

I should have used my asthma inhaler before reading that amazon review on the “Secret”. I almost suffocated with laughter :-)
They should have that guy go on Oprah to tell his story – he he.

A Walk to Forget, December 5, 2007 Let me preface this somewhat negative review by stating that I come from a family of walking enthusiasts and I myself am an avid collector of all literature dealing with personal locomotion.
ROTFL!!!
“The Secret” is that “Thoughts ARE Things!” Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Sorry, I was just venting. Can’t say I’ve had the “pleasure” but someone very close to me has.
It makes Six-Sigma processes look like they may not be all that stifling after all, but just for a moment.
Can’t wait for your rant, Rebecca,
