Skepticism
Stop Sylvia Browne is Now at StopSylvia.com
The title pretty much says it all, but here’s why you should care: some piece of fungus took over Robert Lancaster’s original domain name when it lapsed due to Robert’s hospitalization, and changed the content to be a link-farm for psychic fraud-tards. Now the only thing to be done is to change every link you’ve ever posted on your blog or your web site or in forums to point to www.stopsylvia.com. The idea is to make sure that when someone goes to Google to search for Sylvia Browne, they get Robert’s site and not the zombie site.
Thanks to Tim Farley of What’s the Harm for following up on things and getting the word out. For more info, see his blog.
Done and done. And good for me doing it hungover from Halloween! :S uuuuuuurrfgh
For the sake of plausible deniability, just remember to include the link with actual content. ;)
(Seriously, let’s not be spammy …)
@Yoo: Er, well I wasn’t recommending anyone post new links, just going back and editing old links that now point to a zombie site.
New links with good content certainly don’t hurt, but it is vitally important that we get all these old links fixed. That will simultaneously help Robert and hurt the bad guy.
Also send reminders to any skeptical webmasters or bloggers that you have emails for. I emailed everyone I could, and I even went through the top 100 results for a Google search on “link:stopsylviabrowne.com” and emailed all those folks too.
So how’s Robert doing these days?
Briarking, he’s been moved to a rehabilitation centre, and they are working with him on physical therapy. Apparently he’s finding it painful, and therefore intimidating, but his wife and the staff are working to encourage him to keep at it.
I hope no one minds if I stick a plug in here for the fundraising efforts I’ve setup. Get some cool T-shirts and stuff for christmas, for TAM 7, or just ‘cos.
(Susan would love to have Robert attend TAM 7 and be surrounded by people with his logo on their shirts and caps)

(Rebecca or anyone – I hope this is ok- delete it if not)
thanks for the new link Rebecca, it sure is important to let people know what Sylvia Browne is doing.
As a mycophile I am am **deeply offended** by equating this domain thief with some generic fungus.
In this vein I would like to give him a specific fungal epithet — Tinea cruris , jock itch .
(A close second was Pisolithus tinctorius, Dog turd fungus)
Ah, mycological humor — excuse me while I go giggle myself senseless.
Tee hee! Guess who is at the moment the first Google News hit for the query Sylvia Browne.
Thank you, Rebecca, for drawing people’s attention to the new url. Robert and I both truly appreciate your help!
