Reminder: Boston Skeptics in the Pub tonight!

So, the point of this post is to remind you all that Boston Skeptics in the Pub is happening tonight(!) at 7pm at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square. Our speaker is Sid Rodrigues of London Skeptics in the Pub. He’ll be talking about that, plus something about Tigger losing his boing, which I believe is something perverted. Also, he has a funny accent. So please come and enjoy! Here’s the Facebook event page, if you like that kind of thing.

Now that the business is out of the way, allow me to use this space to thank all of you for the birthday wishes here on Skepchick, on Twitter, on Facebook, in person, and through the mail! Today I stopped by the post office and picked up two packages: one was from Peggy Skemp, an amazingly talented jewelry designer who made me a beautiful silver necklace depicting two earthworms doing it. Yes, doing the nasty. Making the earthworm with two backs. Etc. It’s amazing. Thank you Peggy! I’ll take a photo of myself wearing it at some point tonight, and if all of you who fall in love with it can contact me and I’ll let you know where you can buy one like it.

The other package was from my friend Surly Amy, and contained MORE JEWELRY! So sweet. Amy, you completely outdid yourself. This batch had me cooing: robots, rockets, puns, and more, all on her super cool ceramics. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The rest of you can go buy Surly Amy’s jewelry at her Etsy shop.

And lest I forget, thanks to my fellow Skepchicks for giving me shoes. Delicious, beautiful, sexy hot shoes. Rock on, I love you chicks! Special shout out to Maria and Amanda for making the trek out to celebrate my bday in person. You are awesome. I’m out of adjectives. (And of course, thanks to the other local Boston skeptics for coming to celebrate as well!)

Okay, I’m finished gushing. Last tidbits: I’m mentioned in Skeptical Inquirer’s latest issue, so go buy it! Also, those of you in Milwaukee should pick up the local Alt – Magazine, where I’m interviewed. Those of you outside Milwaukee can read the article here!

That’s it. See the New England crowd tonight!

  1. I guess it was for the best that I lost the nerd necklace I made for you, ’cause first of all you clearly don’t need any more necklaces, and second of all I doubt I could compete with Surly and Peggy. ;P

  2. I just hope you post pictures of any Virgin Mary Toast you may make. Perhaps you could even fashion an additional (crude) necklace from toast and leftover bling?

Also: That’s my ID you’re posing with in the Flickr pool…my awesome hairdo is thanks to a righteous case of hat hair, so I suppose being mistaken for a lady is to be expected :-P

  3. Oh, HA! Sorry Expatria, I only glanced at the pic while it was uploading, and I was having far too much fun to remember the details of the evening…

  4. I’m glad you had a great birthday, Rebecca.

I tried every angle I could to get out there, but nothing came through for me. I was, and still am, bummed.

    Next year.
