Calling All Ohio Skeptics!

As much as I love connecting with all of you fine folk here online at Skepchick, and various other web hangouts where like-minded people tend to congregate, I decided it was about time I meet some more skeptics in real life. So – where are my Ohio skeptics?

I’m working on reviving the old Central Ohioans for Rational Inquiry group, and the first meetup of the new group will be this Saturday here in Columbus, OH. Join us at 3 PM at the Clintonville Panera Bread.

We’re going to be talking about all kinds of upcoming events, including our participation in the Atheist Coming-Out Party next month. You can also check out our website at OhioSkeptic.com and our Google Group.

Since we’re just getting started, I’m wide open to suggestions and plans, so stop by and join the discussion

  1. Woo! I live in Columbus!! Unfortunately, I have to work this Saturday, and I’m helping a friend move the day of the Atheist Coming Out Party. But hopefully I can make it to a future event!

  2. Maihop – Definitely! I’m hoping to have at least monthly meetups. Make sure you join the Google Group to get all the updates :)

  3. As a native Ohioan, I’m so happy you’re reviving a skeptic group there. I visit Ohio at least once a year, and would love to meet the Ohio skeptics while I’m there! (Unfortunately, I won’t be there this weekend, but I’ll have a drink in your honor).

  4. Stacey, just give me a heads-up when you’re next in town, and I shall plan an Ohioan Skepchick party of the highest order :)

  5. Cincinnati here. I don’t think I can justify the two-hour drive (four hours round trip) just for a meetup.

Maybe a meetup in Cincy sometime? It’s a lonely life being rational in the Queen City.

  6. Howard, there is a group of Cincinnati skeptics here: http://www.cincinnatiskeptics.org/. I haven’t been in contact with them, but you might be able to meet up with them.

And while a regular meetup might not be worth the drive, we’ll probably have bigger events in the future that might be :)

  7. I’m in Cleveland, but I have family in Columbus. So I might be able to justify a trip down there sometime to visit family that happens to coincide with a skeptical shin-dig.
