Skepticism

Chicago! Chicago! Chicago!

Let’s party!

It’s time for another meet up, so mark your calendars! I will be bringing along a non-skeptical friend (not Mr. Elyse this time), so feel free to bring along your non-skeptical friends, too. Maybe we could convince a few of them to come to the “Bright” side. (see what I did there? I promise to stop if you come to my meet-up)

Who:

You, me, your friends, my friends, our friends, and strangers

What:

Epic Meet-up

Where:

Galway Arms

2442 N Clark
Chicago, IL
Park on the street if you can find a spot. There is also a parking garage at Children’s Memorial about 1/2 block north of the bar with a flat rate for weekend parking

When:

Saturday, May 17 at 8:30 p.m.

Why:

Because it’s May. Because Skepchick loves you. Because it’s an excuse to drink beer.

How:

Show up, bring friends, talk, drink, eat, laugh, rock hard

Here’s the Facebook invite

  1. If I weren’t all the way down here on the South side, I would probably come. Just the thought of taking public transit to Clark and coming back in the dark gives me the willies.

  2. I’m going to be in Chicago this weekend! I may actually get to this!

No promises, since I’m there to see my mum and I won’t have a car, but this would be totally sweet!

  3. gobleugirl-

while Galway Arms is a really nice place and I’m sure you’d have lots of fun anyway, I won’t be there. The meet up is next week, the 17th.

  4. I’ll be there. I’ll do my best to get my not-quite skeptical fiancee to come (“What do you guys do? Just sit around going ‘Woo hoo, we’re atheists’ for three hours?”).

Geomodal: I also live on the south side (WAY south). There’s always the option to carpool. If we get enough critical mass we might be able to get those yankee northerners to come down our way!

    June meetup: Cubs game!

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  6. Chicago? On purpose?

No offense, but after the 8 hour fiasco at O’Hare the last time I returned from London, not bloody likely!

If I never see Chicago again…

  7. Hey, if you or someone else down here has a car, and is willing to swing by U of C, then that’d be awesome.

  8. Anyone else need a ride? Seems like I’m starting “Gerg’s Athiest & Skeptic Hauling” Taxi Company. I’ll get magnet for this side and everything…though I may need a new Acronym: “G.A.S.H. Taxi Co”?

  9. Well, frak.

Thanks for the heads up. May go there for dinner anyways.

  10. I’ve thought about it, and decided not to go to the meetup. I didn’t realize it until yesterday, but my parents (who live a long way from here) are going to be here on that date. I’d feel weird coming with them.

    Oh well.
