Best Science Blog – Your Vote Counts!

Please vote for Phil Plait of badastronomy.com for best science blog of 2007!

The site’s pretty slow, so you need a little patience while it loads. Phil’s in the lead with Climate Audit in second place. I’m not familiar with CA, but it seems to be a denialst, pseudo-science blog, not a science blog at all (both PZ and Phil agree, so I’m in good company with my assessment). At any rate, the writing is so bad, I can’t really figure out what it’s about. I don’t know how it could be in the running for best of anything blog.

The polls close on Nov 8, so hurry and vote!

UPDATE:

Sorry, Phil! :( We tried but I see that CA got the most votes. I know this contest isn’t serious, but it would have been cool if you won!

Polls don’t close until 5pm EST!

Okay, now he lost. :(

Whoops! Sorry about that. Someone had said the voting was closed. That totally sucks :(

Well, it looks like they’re still tallying the votes and Phil might still be the winner. It’s that close!

  1. Iit's not only extremely slow to load, only half the page is loading, and I can't even tell where you're supposed to go in order to vote.

Unless voting is already closed? But it's November 8 today, so it should still be open, right?

  2. Never mind, by the time the page had loaded and all, and I managed to take a look at the page, it was 15 minutes past 10PM GMT, and the polls had already closed.

Thanks a lot rebecca, for making sure we all know we missed the opportunity to support Phil's blog :x

  3. Uhm, no wait, PM is the afternoon, it's only AM now, so the polls should still be open? Then why the fuck can't I find anywhere to vote? I'm rebooting just to make sure my Flash Player update is properly installed.

  4. I'm a bit surprised that a "critical thinker" relies on subjective opinions about the quality of a blog to pass judgment. I'm a fan of Pharyngula and have added Bad Astronomy to my reader (along with skepchick). I disagree with their assessment of Climate Audit – and thus your assessment. The discussions on CA are esoteric -as is the case with any "science", but science it is – at least as much if not more than the socio-political conversations generally found on other blogs. And the writing ain't so bad. I think it is extremely interesting that a marginalized position of "being skeptical" about "climate science" has garnered such a following, don't you?

BTW, I like your stuff too.

  5. lol. stop trying to put the cart before the horse. It's not over yet. as of now, BA is winning. Until the winner is announced, there is a chance that the recounts will change who wins.
