I prefer after. That way the quote can be judged by its own merits, without any preconceived bias for or against the author tainting the message.

Don't really care either way, but I do think Jay should do all future quotes with his James Mason impression.

I think Jay should do an entire podcast in that voice.

Also, I consider the skeptical quote to be kind of a weak segment.  Jay reads the quote, says the name in a funny voice, there's some general back-patting from the panel about how great the quoted person was/is, and that's about it.  The quote can't really provoke any discussion, because it's usually general and lacks context.  In isolation like that, the quotes have about the same utility as cliches or maxims - that is, very little.  On the other hand, at least the segment is short.

I disagree, this segment is not weak at all. It may not provoke any meaningful discussion on the show (which is likely why it's at the end), but it encourages listeners to ponder the statement and maybe learn more about the person who said/wrote it. Personally, I have found myself, on more than one occasion, not knowing much about the person quoted. Upon hearing the name and the quote, I then do a quick bit of research on the person, and usually end up adding a few more books to my "to-be-read" list.
