I’m Probably Not More Influential Than Genie Scott

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t vote for me anyway!

Blag Hag has a poll to determine who was the most influential female atheist of 2009, and I honestly cannot think of anyone who comes close to Genie Scott, except maybe Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who sadly isn’t an option.

There are plenty of other good options, though, including Skepchick Surly Amy and Friends of Skepchick Amanda Marcotte and Ariane Sherine. And me! ME!

Seriously, I’m flattered to be on the list and I hope to increase my awesomeness this year in order to justify my inclusion.

  1. I think it may have been a typo but it is such a HUGE honor for me to even make it on that list! Wow. And hooray for influencial-awesome-atheist women! Woot!

  2. Depends what’s meant by influential. Me personally, or society at large? Either way I voted for you, Amy and Ariane, so if it’s a three-way tie I was no help at all.

  3. Amy, I included you because I think what you do with Surlyramics is both important and unique. You filled the special skeptical jewelry niche, but all of those necklaces are helping people be more out and visible. You’re spreading skepticism in a very unique and artsy way!

And okay, as a fellow artist maybe I’m a bit biased in my thinking ;)

  4. I didn’t realize I could vote for more than one, so I voted for Ariane. Seriously, the atheist bus campaign, seriously!

Also she wrote “you have the coolest of names” in my copy of the Atheist’s Guide to Christmas, and Rebecca hasn’t signed anything I own, ever. :-D
